Planting Records 2024

The UK's reliance on imported organic grain is an important issue and a barrier to the continued development of the domestic organic cereal sector. This year yield expectations will be low and buyers need to know what the UK crop will be to allow them to plan.  By sharing planting data we can make strides towards greater UK self sufficiency. A well-understood and transparent domestic supply chain can reduce the need for imports, by providing buyers with good quality data about the UK supply of grain.  This not only supports UK producers but also reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation of goods. For organic farmers in the UK, sharing planting data helps develop a more self-sufficient future.

Data sharing enhances transparency. By openly communicating what is being planted and when, organic farmers contribute to a greater understanding of organic grain supply. This transparency is important as it allows for better planning and coordination and helps  ensure supply meets the demand without excessive surplus or shortage.

Please take 5 minutes to complete this planting record form - it's easy, helps planning and in the long term is better for the UK organic cereal sector.
