We're delighted to be visiting Breckland Organics this month as part of our series of farm walks - our first in the East this year.  We'll be hearing from Chris about farming on low fertility free-draining sandy soils.  Perhaps a bonus in a season as we're currently having but prone to drought in more normal seasons.  Carrots are the most important crop and the whole system is run to keep weeds out of the carrot crop.  Some innovative weeding machinery and hand labour are used but the aim is always to keep hand weeding to a minimum.
